Why grading matters

Water is the number one enemy of foundations, driveways and lawns. A site graded to slope away from structures — with swales and drains where they belong — keeps water out of crawl spaces, prevents washouts and stops driveways from rutting. Getting it right at the start is far cheaper than fixing it after the house is built.

From rough grade to finish grade

We cut and fill to plan, build and compact house pads, shape drainage, spread and compact base stone, and finish-grade with topsoil ready for sod or seed. Because we deliver the fill dirt, crusher run and topsoil ourselves, there is no waiting between steps.

FAQ

Grading FAQ

What is the difference between rough and finish grading?

Rough grading shapes the land and builds the pad to the right elevation. Finish grading is the final, smooth surface — sloped for drainage and ready for topsoil, sod, stone or paving.

Can you fix a yard that holds water?

Usually, yes. Re-grading to move water away from the house, adding a swale or installing a French drain with #57 stone solves most standing-water problems.

Do you supply the fill and stone for grading?

Yes — fill dirt, crusher run, gravel and topsoil all come on our own trucks.
